Grows in a simple family where rules
and religious values are uphold, spent childhood times in a village far away
from a town. It will take 7 hours to get to the village where all possibilities
can be real. A long path is flowers blossom everywhere as drizzling makes the
ground has a good smell, wet, cold and nice. There was a girl running in path
laughing under the rain and watching the sky with her small eyes even the rain
hurts her eyes but she still did it. Being free, laugh and dance like no body
can watch her. Sometimes she took one of the flowers and put on her ears.
Suddenly, somebody touched her hand. She was a wise woman
who grasps a leave of banana in her hand as her umbrella. Tender voice whisper
to that little girl; “we go home now is enough to play under the rain”. A
little girl smiled and nodded to that woman. She agreed and followed that woman
and said “mum, can I come here again tomorrow cause of I found a park with many
trees and water flows between them”. The woman with umbrella suddenly laughed
“oh that is a garden tree, sure you can” and her lips kiss the little girl’s
forehead tenderly showing her love. The woman and the little are mum and her
little daughter seemed ignore the drizzling which changes become a heavy rain.
Twenty years already passed, the little girl who ran
under the heavy rain now turned to be a beautiful girl and smart. She usually
help her mum in the paddy field, under the sunshine that hurt her skin nicely
becomes brown but still looks nature and very exotic. Always with a smile, when
she is working in paddy field she sings songs. Her voice so amazing everyone
who listens on hers will feel amazed. Somebody comes and said Alya “stop
working takes some rest”.
Nimsa is a little girl who turned to be a beautiful
woman, after twenty years passes. Nimsa changes into a lovely one and even
though she does not get education in schools because of family’s life is really
poor. But she uses to read many books as when she works in a house of Madam
Sarah, a biologist scientist who lives for years in Nimsa’s hometown to conduct
a research. The nature of Diamond village makes Madam Sarah falling in love.
Madam Sarah is 52 years old woman who comes from Netherland, actually her Mum
is Indonesian and her dad is Netherlander. She already divorce with her husband
from Netherland also. Her marriage with Van Der Rijk, a man from Netherland
blessing her with two sons, their names are Mark Fathir and Smith Mathews.
Madam’s Sarah son lives with their father in Netherland. Mark Fathir is a
Moslem follows her mum faith while Smith Mathews is a Christian follows his
father’s faith.
Mixing marriage between Sarah and Van Der Rijk brings
many differences views. Both decided to divorce when Mark Fathir and Smith Mathews
was child. The last time they met her mum was Fifteen years ago but they still
keep in touch through phone. The time passes so quickly, today is the day for
Mark and Smith visit her mum in Diamond village as they feel longing to their
mum. Also, they want to give their mum a big surprised on her birthday. A long
journey from Netherland can not make them become so tired. Happiness draw in
their faces sometimes they talk at each other but sometimes they busy with their
reading books. Change the plane from Jakarta to Makassar, then take a flight to
Baubau. It is an island in South East Sulawesi. When arrived in Baubau, Mark
and Smith hired a local guide to bring them in a Diamond village.
Along the way to the Diamond village there are lots of
new things they seen. People are talking in their houses in veranda, lots of
bikes on the way as the number of bikes are many than cars in Baubau. They pass
through a road in Lambusango Conservation Forest as Diamond village in the
middle of the forest. A village where the sun seems meets the water of lake,
the trees like wave to the people who come in. The rent car almost reaches the
village, but then they have to pass the garden tree before enter the village. Inside
a car, Mark and Smith watched a beautiful woman under the drizzling who brings
some paddy on her back as she puts in basket. The drizzling makes that woman’s
face is beautiful, natural, exotic and perfect. Her long hair touches her body and
looks covers it vey natural. She seems does not care with rain keep walking
pass the road of the village.
Mark and Smith watch that beautiful woman, she is Nimsa.
Their heart beating so fast, their blood seems flows softly through their body.
That hair, brown skin make them feel
such feeling they never felt before. A crush on a exotic woman that is Nimsa
but both can not say anything, asking name for example, where do you live and
so on. Loves at the first sight make them dumb inside a car.
Finally after the long trip for seven hours they meet
their mum, madam Sarah. There is happiness in their faces, hugs and kisses from
a mum who meet her sons after years separated. Mark and Smith have a good
looking face and smart. Everyone who sees them will say that both young men get
easier to get love causes the perfect looks that they own. But, the values that
they learn from books, their religion, and parents make them so respectful to
all and not easy to falling in love. They both believe that love come from deep
inside of heart is not a desire but feeling to see the pearls inside a heart
that you can buy as it is so precious.
As usual, Nimsa goes to Madam Sarah in the morning every
Saturday to clean up Madam Sarah’s house. Her clothes so simple old t-shirt and
wear a trouser that have been given from Madam Sarah but very gorgeous wrapped
her body and her long hair where she just let them fall cover her arms, her
shining eyes, brown skin, and her genuine smile shows her strong character. She
gets in a Madam’s Sarah house in a rush as she comes quite late, in a guest
from when Smith wants to go out in front yard. Accidentally, Smith and Nimsa
meet in guest room. Both looks confuse and all the memories that when Smith passes
the road first time came to the village just appear that girl where he saw on
the road. He just say “iam sorry, who you are?”. And Nimsa a village girl, so
nervous and answer that “iam a helper, my name is Nimsa”. As the result of
acquiring English in Madam Sarah’s house make Nimsa can speak English little bit
even though her English not good.
Smith, very nervous also and he felt that his mouth can
not open, he just smiled so weird as he does not understand why he become so
stupid in facing Nimsa. Then, Nimsa said “I go now cleani p” a very funny
language Nimsa produces makes Smith keep
smiling and he said “oh yes, you can go”. Smith still stood up in a guest room
until Nimsa enter his mum’s library. There is a thing inside of himself so warm
goes through his brain and heart. Feeling so wonderful and amazing, he can not take
off his eyes watch the perfect creature of beautiful exotic woman until its
gone from his eyes. Smith’s heart says to himself “Oh God let me take care of
her forever to be mine, I love her and this feeling is precious”.
After clean up the library as usual Nimsa, take some
books and read them. She choose the place at the corner to make herself feel
comfortable. When, she is reading Mark just come in a library and very shocked
because he thought there is no body in her mum library. Nimsa also so shocked
and and asked Mark “anda siapa?”. Mark quick controlled himself but can not
hide his feeling that the girl in front of her so beautiful. For a couple of
minutes he just watch that face deeply and his brain like stuck of ideas. Mark
said to himself “Mark you will be alright what is wrong with you?. Are you in
love with this girl” come on!”. All his thought disappear when Nimsa just said
to Mark “me Nimsa helper here,, ughhhh cleanup”. Mark smiles and his eyes
bright watch Nimsa carefully and said “oh iya saya Mark, anak Madam Sarah dari
Netherland. Saya bisa bahasa Indonesia sedikit”. Nimsa is happy and laugh when
listen on funny Indonesia language is producing by the Netherlander. Her
nervous disappear and said ”wow bagus bisa bahasa Indonesia”. Nimsa’s voice
when laughs attract attention of Mark, her voice so lovely in Mark ears. It
seems that he meet this girl in somewhere as he tried to remember suddenly the
sounds of drizzling on the roof of her mum’s cottage in a village make him
remember a face of girl he sees on the road when a black car he rent pass. Yaa,
that is a beautiful woman he saw when he was in a car.
Few moths, passed Nimsa always meet Mark and Smith very
often in Madam Sarah’s house. They talked in front yard and they both teach
Nimsa how to speak Dutch. Mark and Smith loves Nimsa and both keep their
feeling in their heart never say to Nimsa. They respect Nimsa a lot as a girl
with a high destiny, she does not get education but she is her willingness to
learn very impressed Mark and Smith. The feeling love grows so romantic in Mark
and Smith but never said to Nimsa.
Nimsa, like Mark but her love only for Smith since first
time she met him in a guest room. Nimsa believes that her feeling to Smith also
same as Smith feels. But it can not express to Nimsa because he know that Mark
loves Nimsa too. Then, when Nimsa in back yard. She clean up the yard among the
blossom flowers in back yard when drizzling, Smith was there watch Nimsa. And
he can not hold himself not to hold Nimsa from back and said whisper to Nimsa
that “I love you Nimsa”. Both, can not hold themselves of hugging. Nimsa feels
peace in that Smith’s arm. Until Madam Sarah comes and said “stop it Smith, and
Nimsa mulai hari ini berhentilah bekerja disini”. Smith beg to his mum that is
not Nimsa fault but smith.
Mark heard that Nimsa loves smith makes him disappointed
but he decide to struggle to get NImsa become his. He goes to Nimsa house but
people in Diamond village consider something bad that if a man come to a woman
house especially when he is not married to that woman. Then, people come to Nimsa
house and asked mark to go out. Things get worst when Mark refuse that and he
said “kalian semua berfikirlah bahwa seorang gadis punya hak untuk mandiri dan
berteman dengan siapa saja into English a girl has a right to choose which man
can be her friends”. Mark believes as in European thought shape him that a
woman equal to be free but has responsibility to things that she is done”. That
statements make people in that village is angry and give a warning to Mark to
go out soon. Nimsa is live alone since her mum passed away and it makes him
very persistent to what she uphold and believe. Nimsa looks sad and suddenly
said to Mark, “Mark please apapun itu pergilah karena kau dan saya tak akan
bisa bersama satu dari kalian (into
English Mark please just go because you and I can not be one). I love Smith and
I like you, Mark but do not ask me to choose because I will not choose anyone
of you, forget me and get back to your country”.
Finally, Mark decides to go out, and he decided to talk
to Smith that you have to take Nimsa if you love her. Struggle for your love.
Do not give up, smith I want you to be happy and Nimsa is deserve to be the
love that you struggle for. Smith is a man but this the first time he is crying
for his love Nimsa and his brother who asked him to struggle for Nimsa. Madam
Sarah is conservative mum as when she was young very idealist and can not
easily change her views of her decision. She asked Mark and Smith get back to
Netherland. Both agreed to get back to
Netherland but they plan to take Nimsa with them. And that night they go
to Nimsa house secretly and both meet Nimsa. Smith talked to Nimsa “Nimsa come
with me to Netherland, I know you love me and I love you too”. But Nimsa still
does not want to go with them. After persuade Nimsa but Smith can not make it
happen to ask Nimsa follow him. Then, Smith can not hold his eyes to cry and
Nimsa is crying as well. Then smith kisses Nimsa's forehead. His loves to Nimsa so pure. Nimsa said to Smith “you go but
iam still waiting for five years and bring me with you.
Then, Mark and Smith get back to Netherland. Smith work
hard and work successful as a famous writer in Netherland Magazine, a number
one magazine which is in first list in Netherland then the time comes he get
backs to Diamond island but everything is different. He just get a grief with
Nimsa names in it, she passed away as she is very sick since Smith leaved her.
But Nimsa leaves a note to Smith and gives to Madam Sarah and she handed to
Smith. Smith read the note from Nimsa:
Untuk Smith,
Jika malam tak bisa
membawaku padamu, aku pergi dengan dirimu dalam kenanganku. Ku percaya cinta
selalu tak memilih pada siapa dia harus mencintai dan jatuh cinta. Namun, cinta
ku padamu seperti bulan merindukan bintang, seperti siang merindukan malam,
Inilah
yang terbaik dari_NYA..
For Smith,
If night can not take
me to you, I just go with you in my mind. I trust that love always not choose
to whom to love and falling in love. But, my love to you like a moon longing
for a star, like a heart beating in my nerve and makes me alive in your mind
forever. Smith, I love you and always love you, but God wisest make us apart, I
have my faith to God and this is the good thing from God.
From his black glasses Smith crying and smile make his
head high, and seeing the Nimsa passed her and smile to him. Smith said Nimsa,
I love you always.
